Summary/Objective 

The position is responsible for providing technical BIM support as well as connection design coordination and up front design optimization. Provide PM team with 3D software related assistance for project duration as required.

Essential Functions

  • Satisfy BIM implementation for project as required by client.
  • Facilitate conceptual estimating through 3D model generation and material take offs.
  • Attend design coordination meetings and provide model based information for review and analysis.
  • Development of Tekla, Revit and Navisworks based models for use in sales presentations, budgeting and design coordination.
  • Utilize experience and Building Information Modeling to improve the quality, practice and delivery of structural steel building systems to our clients.
  • Communicate complex and technical application issues to non-technical parties verbally or written.

Education/Training

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in engineering, architecture and structural steel detailing. Additional vocational training in 3d systems may substitute for no more than two (2) years of required experience

Specialized Knowledge

As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position.  Specialized Knowledge is also required in the following areas:  Demonstrated knowledge of Advanced knowledge of Tekla Structures, Advanced knowledge of creating components and reports within Tekla to improve efficiency, Advanced knowledge of structural steel detailing. This includes the ability to read design drawings, Basic knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, Autocad and Bluebeam, Basic knowledge of MS Windows and MS Office, Basic understanding of fabrication and erection operations.

Software & Technology

Position will require the frequent use of MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Tekla Structures, Revit, Navisworks, Autocad and Blue Beam PDF Software.

Work Environment

Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions.  Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position.  Position may require minimal out of state air/road travel as needed and required.  A clean driving record will be required due to required road travel.  Current and valid driver's license and proof of acceptable insurance is required.  This position is generally indoors in a climate controlled office.  Reasonable accommodations will be made upon request for those who have disabilities that qualify under the American with Disabilities Act.
