The Plant Manager is responsible to direct all plant activities related to shop fabrication, production, scheduling, quality, product shipping and maintenance.  To maximize profits by maintaining an efficient and productive operation. 

Essential Functions

  • Full accountability for plant profits and losses. 
  • Meets production objectives by forecasting job requirements and potential barriers
  • Responsible for scheduling production as well as expenditures.
  • Coordinates job requirements with sales, detailing, project management, executive management, purchasing, QA and customers.
  • Establishes priorities, controls processes and resolves issues to maintain efficiency.
  • Effectively plan the use of personnel, production machinery and other resources.
  • Assures compliance with corporate regulations pertaining to Human Resources and Safety.
  • Works to improve production processes and procedures.

Education/Training

HS Diploma or equivalent. 

Work Experience

10 years as a structural steel shop fabrication foreman.  An advanced degree or training in a related discipline may substitute for 3 years of experience.

Specialized Knowledge

As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position.  Specialized Knowledge is also required in the following areas:  Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: AWS structural and seismic codes, ACSE, and AISC standards and codes; applicable federal and state building codes and ordinances; production/material specifications related to the fabrication and erection of structural steel.  Demonstrated ability to coordinate work/ship schedules; ability to generate and comprehend functional statistical data and financial information.

Software & Technology

Position will require the frequent use of MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and  Blue Beam PDF Software.  Working knowledge of STRUM.I.S. or other production control software preferred.

Use of Concur Software for expenses; Kronos for timekeeping, and other software will be required (training will be provided).

Work Environment

Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions.  Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position.  Position requires out of state air/road travel as needed and required.  Travel is approximately < 10%.  A clean driving record will be required due to required road travel.  Current and valid driver's license is required.  This position is generally outdoors.  Occasional exposure to high noise levels when required.  Reasonable accommodations will be made upon request for those who have disabilities that qualify under the American with Disabilities Act.
