Critical to the needs of our Phoenix headquarters, the Director - National Field Equipment will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the operations of the department ensuring all construction sites have the appropriate equipment necessary.  This position will also be responsible for effective maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs, performance tracking, and rental equipment used on Schuff Steel job sites.

Key Performance Objectives (not an all-inclusive list of duties/expectations)

  • Manage fleet strategy, planning, implementation, supply chain, analysis, reporting.
  • Source rental equipment; tracks each piece of rented equipment on each job site.
  • Establish and maintain programs for preventative maintenance and record keeping.
  • Partner with purchasing/accounting team to ensure accurate and timely invoice processing.
  • Direct the purchases of small tools and any supplies needed for the work crews.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
  • Provide field management with a weekly budget analysis of rentals and repairs.
  • Prepare a monthly budget report for field management and reconcile monthly vendor accounts
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements, including DOT, AISC, EPA, and OSHA.
  • Develop national programs with vendors (such as rental, gas, safety equipment, etc).
  • Ensure the inspection of equipment on a regular basis to comply with company safety policies.
  • Build and maintain field equipment financial, utilization, maintenance, and safety reports.
  • Plan asset procurement, disposal, management and maintenance in coordination with Field Management and COO.
  • Assist COO with annual capital expenditure (CAPEX) justification for new equipment purchases, including scheduling of purchases to optimize utilization and cash flow.

Education/Required Experience

  • Five (5) years of overall experience in a supervisory role of heavy equipment management required
  • Bachelors in Construction Management (or related field) preferred. Proven experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
