Critical to the needs of our Project Management Department, the Project Coordinator assists in managing the flow of technical information between, the Schuff Steel Project Management team, customers, and subcontractors and vendors through verbal and nonverbal communication.

Key Performance Objectives (not an all-inclusive list of duties/expectations)

  • Review design drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in management of the flow of technical information for producing shop and field erection drawings.
  • Coordinate project sequencing.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to steel detailers.
  • Coordinate detailing efforts of subcontractors.
  • Monitor project schedules; serve as liaison between shop.
  • Field and steel detailers to resolve fabrication and erection difficulties.
  • 4 years experience in job offered or as Detailer/Checker.


Must have 4 years of experience (may be gained concurrently with the above experience) in the following: 

  • Preparing advance bill of materials;
  • Preparing erection drawings (steel setting plans) complete with all applicable details for erection;
  • Preparing shop fabrication drawings;
  • Preparing anchor bolt setting plans and anchor bolt fabrication drawings;
  • Preparing field bolt lists;
  • Preparing point to point bolt list or field bolt placement plans as direction for installing field bolts;
  • Researching and preparing RFIs to address design and erection issues and fabricator/erector preferences;
  • Submitting final set of as-built documents.


Must have working knowledge of industry standards and protocols, including American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Welding Society (AWS), and OSHA. Background check and drug screening required. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
