Critical to the needs of our Accounting Department, the Accounting Manager will assist in the preparation of internal financial and accounting reports for senior management and the executive team. This position is "hands-on" and will require the person to both perform tasks and supervise accounting staff as directed.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform and participate in month-end close procedures (account reconciliations, journal entries, fixed assets, department overhead/expense reviews, WIP review meetings, etc.).
  • Assist with the documentation of current procedures, modifying where necessary to implement better controls while increasing efficiencies.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements; monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to the Consolidations and Reporting group; and annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for the Fab-Erect group and parent.   
  • Oversee accounting staff including Senior Accountants and Accountants.
  • Work in a SOX-compliant environment and maintain controls surrounding the key processes impacting the Fab-Erect Group and parent company.
  • Ensure the accounting staff is preparing financial information monthly/quarterly/annually using approved company financial reporting tools and in compliance with accounting principles and Company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with establishing Departmental goals and objectives that support company initiatives. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, current knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Provide required weekly treasury (13 week forecast) and flash reporting.
  • Manage and monitor weekly past due AR and working capital metrics. 
  • Support M&A activities as required while executing on multiple priorities identified above.

Education/Training

Bachelor's Degree from an AACSB accredited college or university in Accounting.  MBA or CPA is highly preferred.  Ongoing or Continuing Education in Finance and/or Accounting workshops or seminars is desirable. 

Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a public accounting setting, Big 4 preferred.  Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a private industry role.  At least two (2) years of the required experience must also be in a supervisory role (E.g., Manager).  Related experience in a professional senior accounting role within the construction/ heavy manufacturing industry also preferred.

Specialized Knowledge

As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position.  Specialized Knowledge is also required in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of GAAP.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction accounting (Percentage of Completion) preferred.
  • In-depth cost accounting knowledge acceptable substitute.
  • In-depth understanding of internal controls and segregation of duties (SOX).
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX accounting software experience (preferred).
  • Budgeting/Planning software experience (Host Analytics or similar).
  • Expert-level Excel skills.
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and execute deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Software & Technology

Position will require the frequent use and knowledge of MS Windows 7 and/or MS Windows 10, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.   CGC/AS 400, Concur, Kronos TKS or comparable TKS, ERP system software (MS Dynamics AX or applicable software), CPM software (i.e. Host Analytics, IBM Cognos, Hyperion, Clarity, etc.).
