Key Performance Objectives (not an all-inclusive list of duties/expectations)

  • 5+ years of related experience as a safety professional in a commercial construction (steel erection) environment. 
  • Conducts safety orientation for all new hire employees
  • Conducts safety audits, documents audits and is part of the solution for corrective actions
  • Trains employees on site specific hazards, fall protection, aerial lifts and conducts tool box talks as required
  • Maintains current and accurate MSDS file for all materials on site
  • Evaluates hazardous conditions and works with supervision to eliminate the hazards; Maintains safety compliance within OSHA, Company & Client standards
    • OSHA 500 certification preferred, First Aid/CPR certified, EM 385-1 experience preferred
    • Understanding of OSHA standards, in particular; Steel Erection, fall protection, cranes, rigging, and heavy construction
    • Knowledge of PPE, HAZCOM, Confined Space, and Fall Protection procedures
    • Knowledge of OSHA, ADOSH, Cal OSHA, and EPA rules and regulations
    • Knowledge of rigging, cranes & steel construction (Subpart R)
  • Provides technical assistance to supervision on safety related matters
  • Conduct accident and near miss investigations as necessary
  • Prepare review and update JSA's as necessary/conduct and review daily Pre-Task assignments
  • Promote a positive safety culture with all employees; Conduct OSHA 10 & 30 hour training
  • Experience with MS Windows, MS Office, Blue Beam PDF, Concur software
